Fantasy Premier League Draft is a separate official game from the standard budget version of FPL.
In classic FPL, millions of managers can own the same player. In FPL Draft, each Premier League player can belong to only one manager in your league.
There are no player prices and no £100.0m budget. Your squad is created through a live draft.

League sizes
Official guidance recommends up to eight managers as an effective private-league size.
Public leagues contain:
- Four managers
- Six managers
- Eight managers
Private leagues can support more managers, but deeper leagues make the free-agent pool much weaker.

How the draft works
Managers take turns selecting players.
When a player is selected, no other manager in that league can draft him.
The league administrator chooses how the first draft order is decided. The order can be random or use an available league setting based on the previous campaign.
The official process uses a snake draft.
Snake-draft example
In an eight-manager league:
- Round 1 runs from Pick 1 to Pick 8
- Round 2 runs from Pick 8 back to Pick 1
- Round 3 returns from Pick 1 to Pick 8
This balances the advantage of receiving the first pick.

Is there a club limit?
The official Draft game should be followed as presented in the live rules and interface.
The central restriction is uniqueness: a player can only belong to one team in your league.

Building a draft watchlist
A watchlist is essential.
The draft clock can move quickly, and your preferred player may be selected immediately before your turn.
Create tiers rather than one rigid list.

What are waivers?
A waiver request allows you to exchange one player in your squad for an available player in the same position.
Waivers are processed before the Gameweek deadline.
Official guidance states that requests are processed 24 hours before the Gameweek deadline.
You can submit multiple waiver requests and place them in priority order.
How waiver priority works
The lowest-ranked manager receives priority during the weekly process.
Before the first Gameweek, the waiver order is the reverse of the draft order.
A manager whose waiver succeeds moves to the end of the queue for that processing period.
Example
You request:
- Replace Midfielder A with Midfielder X
- Replace Midfielder A with Midfielder Y
- Replace Midfielder B with Midfielder Z
The system first attempts X. When another manager with better priority receives X, it moves to Y.
What is a free agent?
A free agent is an unowned player who is available outside the waiver process.
Free Agency opens after waivers are processed and normally closes at the Gameweek deadline.
A new Premier League signing or a player released by another manager does not always become an instant free agent. He may first need to pass through waivers.

Trades can involve players of the same position and are governed by the league's configuration.
A trade should improve both teams rather than simply moving a famous player.

- Does one manager need a midfielder while the other needs a forward?
- Is an injury being disclosed?
- Are upcoming fixtures different?
- Is the league commissioner applying the rules consistently?
Mid-season redrafts
The 2026/27 official guide states that administrators can schedule up to three additional drafts after the initial draft.
Redrafts can refresh squads after:
- The summer window closes
- A major injury period
- The January transfer window
- New Premier League arrivals
- A league that has become unbalanced
Redrafts do not erase the current standings.
The administrator chooses the Gameweek, date and time through League Admin.
Classic versus head-to-head scoring
FPL Draft leagues can use different ranking formats.
Classic
Teams are ranked by total Fantasy points.
Head-to-head
Managers play one opponent each Gameweek.
- Win: three league points
- Draw: one league point
