The short answer
A Blank Gameweek has clubs with no Premier League fixture. A Double Gameweek has clubs playing twice within the same FPL Gameweek.
Use the OneFPL Fixtures page and Transfer Planner to prepare before the schedule changes.
Blank versus Double Gameweeks
| Situation | FPL effect |
|---|---|
| Club has no fixture | Its players score zero |
| Club has two fixtures | Its players can score in both |
| Player appears in only one match of a double | Points from that match count |
| Player plays zero minutes across both matches | Normal auto-sub rules can apply |
| Captain plays in both matches | Captain multiplier applies to the combined score |
Why blanks and doubles happen
They usually follow postponed or rearranged Premier League fixtures, often because of domestic cup clashes.
A postponed fixture can create:
- A Blank Gameweek when the original match disappears
- A Double Gameweek when the rearranged match is added later
Chip uses
| Chip | Common use |
|---|---|
| Free Hit | Build a one-week team for a large blank |
| Triple Captain | Back a premium player with two strong fixtures |
| Bench Boost | Count a full squad with extra fixtures |
| Wildcard | Restructure for several blanks or doubles |
A chip is not automatically good because a Gameweek is doubled. Confirm expected minutes, fixture quality and rotation risk.
For 2026/27, managers have two sets of chips, one in each half of the season. Only one chip can be used in a Gameweek.
