The short answer
Goalkeepers and defenders earn four clean-sheet points, while midfielders earn one. A player must complete at least 60 minutes, excluding stoppage time.

Does stoppage time count toward 60 minutes?
No. The threshold uses regulation minutes and excludes added time. A player shown as having played 59 minutes does not receive the 60-minute appearance or clean-sheet award.
What if the team concedes after the player is substituted?
A goalkeeper, defender or midfielder can keep the clean-sheet points when:
- He completed at least 60 minutes
- His team had not conceded while he was on the pitch
- He was substituted before the later goal
This is why a defender removed after 61 minutes can keep four points even when the final score is 1-0 to the opponent.
Goals-conceded deductions
Goalkeepers and defenders lose one point for every two goals conceded under the scoring rules. This is separate from losing clean-sheet points.
